Our Philosophy

Outdoor Endeavors specializes in adventure trip for teens age 12-17 and have now included trips for the entire family.  Our main focus is to create experiential education opportunities.  Outdoor Endeavors will do this by creating difficult, but achievable, experiences.

Outdoor Endeavors staff is centered on a set of objectives. These objectives apply to both groups and individuals within the group.  Our objectives are the following:

Personal Development and Understand of Self

  • Expanding individual self-awareness
  • Identification of personal limits
  • Clarification of needs and goals

Interpersonal Effectiveness

  • Responsiveness to the needs of others
  • Encourage open and effective lines of    communication
  • Decision-making and problem-solving
  • Construction of cooperative relationships

Problem-Solving

  • Breakdown of a situation and arrival at a solution to the problem at hand
  • Service to others; finding solutions beneficial to all
  • Connecting problem situations and solutions to the “real world”

The Outdoor Endeavor Counselor In Training (CIT) program is offered to interested campers between the ages of 18-21 that are too old for camp, but would like to continue to contribute to OE. CITs must pass an interview and application process, have at least a first aid with CPR certification, and complete the Outdoor Endeavors staff training requirements. Staff training consists of a curriculum in line with the above objectives and preparing every aspect of a made up ‘trip.’  We will then pair the CIT with either James or Jon while in the field.

We guarantee a ratio of five campers to one staff member.  All our staff members are over the age of 21, while most of them are certified teachers.  Safety is our #1 concern, our trip leaders are certified in Wilderness First Aid and are also certified lifeguards.

Campers will learn basic outdoor living skills while living in a small group. Some of our trips will feature whitewater rafting, climbing an Alpine Tower, mountain biking, canoeing, waterskiing and backpacking. Campers and staff will be living in tents and preparing their own meals.

Campers will develop appreciation and respect for the environment, learning specific outdoor skills, improve team involvement and leadership abilities, grow personally, create new friends and have FUN!
